In restaurants, bars, fairs and interregional transport, the vaccination pass is therefore expected to replace the health pass from January 15, 2022, hopes the government. Faced with this hardening, described by the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, as « A disguised form of vaccine obligation », the oppositions seek to differentiate themselves. The threat of the Omicron variant puts them, however, in an embarrassment and leaves them a narrow margin to challenge government policy.

If many politicians seem to want to avoid taking a position, in a debate where it is easy to get damaged politically, Marine Le Pen, Eric Zemmour but also Jean-Luc Mélenchon choose a frank opposition, at the risk of be accused of recovering from vaccine mistrust. « We are going to present a text which calls for an end to the exceptional health regime, which wants to remove full health power from Emmanuel Macron, and which will put an end to the health pass and the vaccination pass », promised, on December 18, the president of the group La France insoumise (LFI) of the National Assembly, Mathilde Panot.

Macronists denounced a demagogic posture. This proposal was the high point of Mr. Mélenchon’s visit to Martinique and Guadeloupe: the latter showed himself to be in tune with the mistrust of overseas people in health matters, reaching out to « Unconvinced », lambasting an executive « Unconvincing ». Socialist Senator Rachid Temal was indignant at the « Choice of populism » made by LFI.

« Hypocrisy »

Instead, we were treated to a sleight of hand. We regret it, this hypocrisy does not help membership, but we will support the measure « , warns the deputy of Paris Lamia El Aaraje.
