« Miraculate. Jessica, 27, is well aware, during this festive period, of the luck represented by the moment when Thibault, her son, is in her arms. Our colleagues from Parisian report this Saturday the story of this young mother who, by giving birth to her son, almost lost his life. Pregnant, about two weeks before giving birth, Jessica contracted Covid-19. She then thought she would wait until she had given birth to her son to be vaccinated. On August 4, she was taken to the emergency room and placed in intensive care, she will have to give birth urgently, intubated during the cesarean section.
Little Thibault is placed on oxygen. The days following the birth, Jessica rests, but things get worse from August 13. She won’t open her eyes again until the end of September. « The room is painted green, as you wanted for Thibault », explains her husband, relieved. “The start of the school year went well,” he continues of their eldest son. Faced with the convalescent’s incomprehension, he specifies: « Oh yes, you may not know it, it is September 21st. «
A story « as rare as it is exceptional »
During the 38 days spent in a coma, there was talk of a lung transplant for the young woman. Miraculously, it didn’t turn out to be necessary in the end. « Its history is, fortunately, as rare as it is exceptional », explains to Parisian Jean-Christophe Richard, the head of intensive care at Croix-Rousse, in Lyon. He will have to wait until mid-October to find his eldest son and meet the youngest. She will be able to wear it at the beginning of November: “There, I felt like her mother. He was smiling at me like he knew who I was. « Back home, she congratulates her relatives and their courage: » They are the ones who suffered the most, they took care of everything, thinking that I was going to die. «
