The promises of the James Webb space telescope

Lhe largest and most powerful space telescope ever built is about to go into service 1.5 million kilometers from Earth. Called James Webb (JWST), he promises great discoveries in at least five research areas: the very young Universe, the first stars and the first galaxies, the formation and evolution of galaxies and black holes, the formation and the evolution of planetary systems, exoplanets and their atmospheres and, finally, the life cycle of stars, from their birth to their death. Point interviewed leading specialists in these fields, who told us about their hopes for this instrument.

Nicolas Laporte, of the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom, specialist in the first stars and the first galaxies
