A car carrying two men and three children violently crashed into a tree in Wattrelos, in the north on Saturday evening, killing the driver and two children, and seriously injuring the other two passengers, firefighters and police said on Sunday. The accident took place around 10:30 p.m. on a boulevard in Wattrelos, in the Lille metropolitan area, according to a statement from the firefighters.
The vehicle left the road, « hit a tree, and ended its trajectory in a fence, » said a spokesperson for the North Departmental Public Security Directorate (DDSP). The report shows « three dead male victims, including two children », « one aged between 5 and 6 years, and the other between 7 and 8 years », and « two male victims, including a child » of unspecified age, taken to hospital in serious condition, said the DDSP. Their identity is not known at this stage. An investigation was opened to determine the causes of the accident.
