A woman in her fifties was fatally struck by a vehicle whose driver did not stop in Béziers overnight from Saturday to Sunday, AFP learned from a police source and from the prosecution. « I confirm the death after percussion by a vehicle which fled and whose driver then lost control about 200 meters further by falling into a ditch, » Béziers prosecutor Raphaël Balland told AFP.
Two men in the vehicle were arrested and taken into custody on charges of intentional homicide, he added.
At this stage « the facts are still confused » and the investigators are wondering about « a possible voluntary act », explained Raphaël Balland. According to a police source, the two men had been asked to leave a restaurant following a brawl.
