After football and Ligue 1, it is the turn of French professional rugby and the Top 14 to be affected by the fifth wave of coronavirus and the resurgence of cases linked to the Omicron variant. The meeting between the Toulouse Stadium and the French Stadium, scheduled for Sunday December 26 in the evening in Toulouse and counting for the 13e Day of the Top 14, has indeed been postponed because of « the health situation of the workforce » in Paris, announced the National Rugby League (LNR) in a press release.
This is the fourth game of this 13e day, called « Boxing Day », scheduled for Sunday and Monday, which is postponed due to the spread of cases of Covid-19 in the workforce of French rugby clubs. « The postponement date of the meeting will be communicated later, » said the NRL.
More than three meetings on the program
Another confrontation scheduled for Sunday, opposing Brive to Clermont, had previously been postponed. The other two postponed matches were initially scheduled to take place on Monday: they were Racing 92-Pau and Toulon-Bordeaux Bègles.
After these four postponements, there are still three matches on the menu for this 13e day: Perpignan-Castres scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m., then Biarritz-Montpellier and La Rochelle-Lyon scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. respectively.
