Tkings days after the discovery of a decapitated and dismembered body at the side of a road, near Montauban, the roommate of the victim was indicted for murder on Monday, announced the Montauban prosecutor’s office. « The investigations (…) made it possible to identify and arrest the alleged perpetrator of the crime, during the search of the home of the victim residing a few hundred meters from the place of discovery of the body », wrote in a communicated the deputy prosecutor of Montauban, Anne Gaullier.
The suspect, said the prosecution, confessed during his police custody « to have killed his friend with knives and kicks, and to have subsequently dismembered for the purposes of concealing the corpse ». An alcoholic evening, followed by a violent argument around midnight, on the night of Thursday to Friday, preceded the murder, according to the elements collected by the investigators of the research section of the gendarmerie of Toulouse. An altercation had already opposed the two men a few months earlier.
The victim known to justice
The alleged murderer, aged 52, from Reunion Island, had already been sentenced by the courts for sexual exhibition and death threats. Arrested on Saturday, he was remanded in custody on Monday, after his custody.
Friday afternoon, two walkers had discovered a body without head or forearms, at the edge of a departmental road in Albias (Tarn-et-Garonne), a few hours before Christmas Eve. The head was discovered on Saturday a hundred yards away, in a plastic bag. The victim is a 31-year-old man known to the courts for traffic offenses and thefts. Immediately, the investigators favored the hypothesis of the villainous crime.
