The year 2021 was marked by the death of many personalities. France has notably lost Jean-Paul Belmondo and Bernard Tapie, while the United Kingdom mourned Prince Philip.
Bernard Tapie, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean-Pierre Bacri… France lost some of its biggest names in 2021. The year was again marked by the covid-19 pandemic which continued to threaten the whole world. Several personalities were tragically victims, including the creator Alber Elbaz or the former American politician, Colin Powell.
The arts world also mourned the passing of Louis Vuitton male stylist and prodigy artist Virgil Abloh, director Bertrand Tavernier and star dancer Patrick Dupond.
The year 2021 will also be remembered as the year when the Queen of England lost her dear and loving husband, Prince Philip. William and Harry’s grandfather died at the age of 99 on April 9, 2021. The Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral took place on April 17 at Windsor Castle in a select committee due to covid-19. A moment of intense emotion for an entire country, followed on televisions all over the world.
The media world has for its part had to say goodbye to big names in the popular world. Georges Pernoud, legendary host of « Thalassa », Helen McCrory, known in particular for her role in « Peaky Blinders », Dustin Diamond or even James Michael Tyler, unforgettable Screech in « Saved by the Gong » and Gunther in « Friends » are extinct . Patrick Juvet, Tonton David, Charlie Watts and Marthe Mercadier also disappeared this year.
