Seriously injured in April, rugby player James Lasis tells about the progress of his rehabilitation

Hit in the neck during a scrum, the English second line of the Nice club is now treated in England, at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital. He gave his news on Sunday.

His fate had touched and moved the entire rugby community in France. Last April, the second 25-year-old Englishman was seriously injured in the neck during a National match between his club Nice and Narbonne. At the end of September, James Lasis had left the Pasteur hospital in Nice to the applause of his teammates and nursing staff to return to his native country to continue his heavy rehabilitation.

On the occasion of Christmas, the player gave his news via his Instagram account from his room at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital (north-west of London). If he is still bedridden and intubated, « things are moving in the right direction, assures the young man. Thanks to the care of plastic surgeons, my bedsores finally seem to heal well.»

Praised for his fighting spirit and courage, James Lasis also continues his exercises to regain autonomy. « I am fortunate to work well with physiotherapists, doing at least two hours a day. I focus on mobility and try to wake up my muscles», Says the Englishman.

More good news, « after further examinations and a change of approach, my breathing becomes stronger. Overall I am very happy to be there and I am very grateful to all the wonderful people who support me.»
